The main themes of the conference will be "renaissance, representation and identity in the Middle East", but papers relating to any aspect of the Middle East from the rise of Islam will be welcomed. Contributions from postgraduates, and sessions focusing on particular areas within the Middle East, are particularly encouraged. The conference will also include book and museum exhibitions, poetry readings, film(s) and a Middle Eastern musical performance.

Any suggestions for other related activities will be welcome.
